The presentation “Construction Safety: Back to Basics” by Jason Kelly of AXA Contractors Choice provides a comprehensive overview of key construction safety challenges and solutions. It will examine 2023 HSA statistics, manual handling injuries, tool use incidents, and falls from height.
The presentation will explore why these problems persist over time, identifying twelve human factors. The AXA Risk Control Team advocates for returning to fundamental safety principles to address persistent construction industry risks.
Jason will be joined on the webinar by Michael Brennan, AXA’s Trading Underwriting Manager. Micheal will give a broad overview of the construction market in Ireland and will talk about the key associated risks and the insurance solution available to mitigate against those risks.
Meet the presenters: Jason Kelly, Risk Control Manager for AXA insurance Ireland

Jason is the Risk Control Manager for AXA insurance Ireland, he has spent the last 24 years working in insurance risk control and the previous three years before that as a Loss Adjuster. He is a Registered Building Surveyor, a Chartered Building Manager, a Chartered Insurance Risk Manager, a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health as well as being a Graduate of the Institution of Fire Engineers. As the current chair of the Association of Irish Risk Management he has a keen interest in not only “traditional” (if we can call them that) insurance risks but new and emerging risks.
Michael Brennan, AXA’s Trading Underwriting Manager

Michael Brennan is a Trading Underwriting Manager at AXA and has 35 years’ experience in Irish & EU Insurance markets. His broad experience includes commercial lines generally, larger business risk and Risk Management assessment/Risk Control. He is FCII qualified and holds a BSc in Occupational Safety & Health.
