The Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship Celebrates 10th Anniversary and Launches ’25 Programme

Thu Mar 13 2025

The Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship Ireland’s first Level 8 Honours Degree apprenticeship celebrates a huge milestone, born from a desire to bring new entrants into the insurance sector, 10 years on, the programme has achieved this and more – it has not only led to an influx of new talent, but it has also enabled insurance employers to put the right staff with the right skills in place, ensuring their business remains competitive and fit for the future.

Over the years we have seen:

  1. 47% of graduates achieve First Class Honours
  2. 53% female participation — one of the highest in any Irish apprenticeship
  3. 80+ employers nationwide support the programme
  4. Record 130 new apprentices in 2024

The three-year programme enables apprentices to earn a full-time salary, whilst studying remotely for a BA Honours Degree in Insurance Practice.  As we prepare for the 2025 intake, we invite employers to participate in either the general or life stream and support the continued success of the programme.

If you would like to find out more about the programme or would like to express your interest in taking part in the 2025 programme, contact Naomi Gaffney Apprenticeship Support Manager at apprenticeship@iii.ie.
