The Field of Dreams – Broker Charity Challenge, Aviva Stadium

On Wednesday 18th September, Brokers Ireland and Aviva hosted 8 Broker teams (120+ players) in Aviva Stadium in a Soccer Charity Challenge in aid of Age Action Ireland.

The soccer gods were winking down on the hallowed Aviva pitch on a glorious sunny afternoon, when the battle of the Brokers got underway and 12 teams went head to head for the coveted champion’s trophy. Prior to kick-off, the teams were welcomed by Diarmuid Kelly, CEO, Brokers Ireland and Steve McGirr, Sales Director, Aviva.  Dr Kate Kirby, a sport psychologist also presented the players with a sports and well-being briefing on how to approach the ‘beautiful game’ and the correlation between sports and business practice.

With plenty of changing room motivational tips and tunnel fanfare, the matches got underway pitch side at 4pm.  Some great footie was observed in the qualifying, semi-finals, and final round of the matches, with plenty of fancy footwork, impressive soccer skills, and team tactics in play throughout the afternoon.

Congratulations to the two finalist White and Purple teams (see team lists below) on their impressive run to the finals and to all teams for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship and participation in the tournament.

Brokers Ireland would like to thank Aviva for coordinating this memorable day with Aviva Stadium.  A total of €18,700 was raised on the day and presented to Age Action Ireland for their fantastic and worthwhile endeavours for older people across Ireland.
